Greater Los Angeles Libertarian Party Meetup Group
Special Guests this week, Glenn Cripe from Arizona and Venkatesh Geriti all the way from India will present the story of the Language of Liberty Institute.
Glenn worked with Venkatesh and his local team to organize a 10-day, 6-city tour in southeastern India last February, where they gave 2-3 hour seminars on libertarian topics and history to a total of over 600 students and entrepreneurs. They returned last July for a 5-day extended program (Liberty Camp) near the city of Vizag with 25 students.
The Language of Liberty Institute organizes Liberty Camps (aka Liberty English Camps) in developing countries, where the offer a unique combination of
-> exploration of classical liberal ideas (in philosophy, economics, ethics, entrepreneurship)
->English conversation practice with native speakers
-> workshops on how to apply these ideas to solving problems in daily life back home
At each Liberty Camp, students expand their knowledge of classical liberal ideas, thinkers, and works. They also participate in discussions, debates, workshops, and presentations on these topics, thereby gaining more opportunities to practice speaking English.
We sit for dinner at 7:30 pm with discussion or speaker after dinner. Early arrivers can toss back a drink at Hank's bar or just wait in the hotel lobby. For lingerers Hank's is always there after Gil's closes.
There is no charge, but everyone is responsible for the cost of their own food and drink. Gill's offers a menu of traditional Indian dishes at a reasonable cost. Bring a friend and make sure you RSVP!
